Hello Interpreters! I am currently Free Lance Interpreting in Memphis, TN. Interpreters here working in the community are underpaid in many different ways and I'm trying to do something about it. I'm putting together information on interpreting agencies across the country. If you wouldn't mind telling me a bit about any Sign Language Interpreting agencies in your area I would greatly appreciate it. The information I am collecting is below.
What is the name of the agency?
Is it a profit or non-profit agency?
What city is it in?
What is the range of rates paid to interpreters in the area?
Do they pay mileage? What are the terms?
Do they have a 24hour cancellation policy?
Do they pay time booked or time worked? (for instance, say your agency pays a 2hr minimum. You book a 4 hour job and it finishes after an hour and half. Do you get paid 2 hours or the full 4 hours?)
Do they have a 2 hour minimum or a start-up?
I appreciate any information anyone can give me.
If you prefer to send me a private response, you can email me at melissac5964@yahoo.com
