Profile Information

How did you first learn Sign Language?
High School assignment working a community service project with the Pennsylvania School for the Deaf. Fell in love with it and the rest is history. I've been with it for over.... well, a long time. I am now an adjunct professor teaching ASL at a community college as well coordinating the Deaf/HH program at another community college. I have the best interpreter "dream team" anyone could want!

Not at all a mislead Doug, thanks for the useful information!!! I'll be visiting some friends in Venice and Long Beach so I have a journey of my own! Very excited, and only hope for the best on my way. I'll Def keep in touch, have a safe trip home, and I will comment soon!

Thank for the response! So when you said that you helped your friends become employed were you there for the interviews, or how did you play a role? I would hope that what I do is in the employment industry, but right now I am not sure if it is the best decision. Being that over half of the people in my household have struggled with unemployment as your wife. Thats an unfortunate situation to hear about, and I wish great luck to you two. Today will be a day full of sign language for me! I will be working with the Lou Fant Sign Language Phrase book and the Signing Naturally Level 2, and 3 Have a beautiful day Doug

Great! well I have so far gained a great deal from this web page already. During my semester.cI am getting to meet and share special websites with others from my region!!! I will be pushing to increase the network of interpreters on this site so i am pretty excited about that as well. Do you have experience with looking into Deaf Employment opportunities???

Hi Doug .... it is nice to meet you , glad to see we have a common interest .... i interp in a high school setting right now and enjoy the challange that each day presents. in the religous realm i have done a lot of non demonination as well as catholic masses..... each year at the end of june there is Creations Festival (east) in Mt. Union Pa that is a huge gathering of christians and sevaral deaf attend ...... long story , short ...it is a GREAT time.... i hope you and yours have a great holiday season....... peace ...bye for now...... dave .
