Profile Information

How did you first learn Sign Language?
Friends at camp, when I was in college, taught me some signs - fingerspelling and songs. From there I got interested and volunteered at the local school for the deaf in Salem, OR. Then went into the Deaf Ed masters program in college. Sad to say, but my high school students in my first job at The Learning Center in Framingham, MA, taught me more sign language than my classes ever could. I just wish I had been more fluent already for the students. I had a mentor during that time, too, a deaf teacher, who helped me with myASL. But I'm always learning, still! :-)
Which ITP did you attend?
school of hard knocks! :-)
What is your favorite type of interpreting assignment?
Most anything, truly. I LOVE doing church interpreting, although songs are tough. I enjoy medical interpreting. I love the variety in VRS.

Check out the new feature - TerpAnswers - I posted the first question which is related to VRS. I noticed VRS is one of your favorite type of interpreting assignments. Let me know how you like the new feature. ~Daryl
