- How did you first learn Sign Language?
- I started by watching the interpreter in church at age 6. Then when I turned 9 I began interpreting songs in church for a 4-year old deaf boy. When I was 15, I turned to books and dictionaries for study and began interpreting in church for a deaf family. Receptive skills developed from further interaction with them and expressive signing from interpreting on Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

- I love conference and convention interpreting. Religious interpreting is my comfort zone and my greatest area of familiarity. Workshops are good as well.

Hello fellow terps. My name is Steven. I moved here to Texas about 1 year ago. I live in Copperas Cove, near Fort Hood. I started interpreting in January for a college and will soon be working out of an agency. My friend, Audrey told me about this page so I checked it out and it looks really cool. I love interpreting and hope to make some cool networking acquaintances on here.
I love billiards/pool. I love watching it and playing it. I will be 21 in a few months. I am currently living with mom. My dad passed away this past September so we are being emotional and financial support for each other for time being. I'm very laid back and easy going. I am not completely sure if this section is for what I am saying in here, but it looks good here.
I am a very organized and meticulous person. Everything has to be perfect but rarely turns out that way...in my opinion. I keep everything neat and orderly and do not appreciate when others are a great deal messy.
I need to get back to school where I will major in Biblical studies and spoken language interpretation/translation. I have a great passion and love for languages and their linguistics. I have already studied and memorized Spanish. I was almost fluent, but I didn't have the need to apply it, so have lost it somewhat. I started Russian before I moved from NY last year and still remember the few things I learned, but have not applied them either. I was able to briefly begin Urdu, but just in supremely minute detail. But I will definitely pick them up again in the future and hope to work in the United Nations as an interpreter.
ASL is my first love though and will always hold preeminence.
